Genesis is one of New Zealand’s largest energy retailers and generators, supplying electricity, gas and LPG to more than 520,000 customers across New Zealand.

Genesis owns and operates a diverse range of generation assets, including hydro, wind and thermal power stations. Its generation portfolio enables it to contribute significantly to New Zealand’s overall electricity supply, with a mix of renewable and non-renewable sources.

The New Zealand Government holds a 51% shareholding in Genesis Energy, with the remaining shares publicly listed on the New Zealand stock exchange (NZX).

Genesis is headquartered in Auckland, with customer service and operations teams based throughout New Zealand.

For more information, see the Genesis website.

Genesis provides qualifying customers with Power Shout® hours. Customers can book eligible Power Shout hours ahead, book the hour they’re in, or use hindsight to book eligible electricity they’ve already used – up to 31 days later. Join an eligible Genesis residential electricity plan and get 50 Power Shout hours.

Genesis has an EVHome plan where qualifying customers get 50% off their variable household electricity day rate from 9pm to 7am.

With the EVerywhere add-on, customers can charge their EV on the road at ChargeNet stations and pay their variable day rate, saving up to 70% compared with standard public charging rates.
