Retailers not on Powerswitch
There are around 40 retail brands listed in New Zealand. However, many of these are very small. We have only considered providers that have more than 200 customers.
The retailers currently participating in Powerswitch supply approximately 97% of New Zealand's households. However, several smaller retailers have either opted not to list their plans on Powerswitch or are not accepting new customers. Other retailers are not listed because they only offer their services to certain groups and are not available to the general public. These retailers have cited various reasons for their decision, and while we respect their choice, we remain committed to engaging with them and fostering their participation in order to enhance the platform's comprehensiveness.
Black Box Power
Black Box Power are a small retailer with limited ability to take on large numbers of new customers. They are operated by Pulse Energy.
Grey Power Electricity
Not open to the general public. You must be a member of seniors’ advocacy group Grey Power to join. They are operated by Pulse Energy.
Just Energy
Not taking on new customers. They are operated by Pulse Energy.
Nau Mai Rā
Not on Powerswitch because they are concerned about taking on too many customers too quickly.
Slingshot
Part of 2degrees. We are working to include 2degrees on Powerswitch soon.
Wise Prepay Energy
Are not actively seeking new customers. Wise Pre-Pay are a subsidiary of Nova Energy.
Z Energy
We are working to include Z Energy on Powerswitch soon.
